Same-day sexual activity may be possible
These treatments do not involve the same wound-healing period as circumcision. If your doctor considers the treatment suitable and gives you instructions for its use, sexual activity may be possible on the day. The exact injection or medicine, your health and your response still matter.
Ask about alcohol with your specific treatment and medicines. Avoid heavy drinking; do not assume that same-day treatment means unrestricted drinking or a guaranteed result.
Plan for 1–2 weeks without sexual activity
Dr Yuzaki suggests allowing 1–2 weeks before resuming sexual activity after this treatment, with the actual timing confirmed by your treating doctor. Swelling, tenderness and uncomfortable erections can occur, and some people need longer.
Gentle sightseeing may be possible if you feel comfortable and your doctor agrees. Keep your itinerary flexible and follow the instructions for exercise, bathing and follow-up.
At least 4 weeks without sex, and until fully healed
Allow at least four weeks without sexual activity or masturbation, and wait until the wound has healed and your doctor permits resumption. Bleeding, swelling and discomfort can occur. Dr Yuzaki recommends planning roughly a week of rest or reduced activity at the start.
Strenuous activity can increase bleeding. Bungee jumping, vigorous sports and other demanding excursions are unsuitable during early recovery. Ask when each activity can restart; one week is not automatic clearance.
